Barrel-Aged Imperial Porter11%

Named after the location of the original Toronto brewery founded by Robert Henderson in 1800, this is a full-bodied, roast-forward barrel-aged Imperial Porter.

Style: Imperial Porter OG: 22.5 Plato ABV: 10% IBU: 70 SRM: 42
Malt: Pale Ale, Dark Munich, Brown Malt, Crystal 40L, Crystal 120L, Chocolate Malt
Hops: Magnum, Goldings
Yeast: California Ale (house strain)
Extras: Aged four months in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. Note that this is the third and final beer to be aged in these barrels after Ladder to the Moon and Henderson's Beast 2017.
Aroma: Bourbon upfront coupled with candy sweetness. Vinous. Molasses and a hint of roastiness are also layered in place. Some heat detectable on the nose.
Appearance: Deep chestnut brown bordering on black. Opaque with short-lived tan head.
Taste: Baker’s chocolate, oak, some roasty character coupled with mild astringency. Warming, pleasant heat. No detectable hop flavour. Toffee and coffee on the finish. Dry.
Mouthfeel: Big, thick body with medium-low carbonation. Flavours described under taste linger in the finish.
Overall Impression: A high gravity, roast-forward bourbon barrel aged dessert beer.
