Ides 45: Dulce Ciencia

Mexican-style Lager3.5%

Earl O’Sullivan was born in Mimico, Ontario in 1914, with boxing in his blood. Earl & his three brothers often donned the boxing gloves at home & while other kids fantasized about scoring the Stanley cup-winning goal, Sully dreamed of being a championship boxer.

His love of boxing led him to the Toronto Athletic Club, where he became a fixture & ultimately purchased the club in 1964. Sully’s, as it became known, evolved from a  training club for pro boxers, including Muhammad Ali & George Chuvalo, to a centre for misdirected youth, where trouble-prone kids got a second chance in life.

Though Sully passed away in 1999 at 85 years of age, the gym that bears his name – now Canada’s oldest boxing gym and located just a stone’s throw from our brewery – still stands for an unwavering commitment to discipline, hard work & compassion for youth. We toast Sully with a beer designed to help quench a post-workout thirst. This Mexican-style lager is light-bodied with a super crisp finish and a low ABV that’ll help keep you on your toes & at your fighting weight.
